Frequently Asked Questions

We know you will have many questions about our adventures and have tried to answer the most common ones here. In addition, we will send you a detailed Pre-Departure Packet about the Sonoma Vineyard Walking Adventure upon registration.

What if I am a solo traveler? 40% of our Group Tour participants sign up entirely on their own and our guides are trained to make sure everyone fits in. You may choose to pay a $600 single supplement to have your own room but this is always optional and we will find you a roommate of the same gender if you don't wish to pay the extra supplement. Unfortunately, our Private & Day Walks require a group size of at least two.

Am I fit enough to go on these Walks? You should be able to walk for three miles at a leisurely pace to participate, although most of the walks can be customized to be shorter.

When do I have to pay and what if I have to cancel? Please see our Details page.

Do you recommend travel insurance? We highly recommend trip cancellation insurance to protect yourself against unforeseen circumstances. Every year there are unfortunate incidents with dozens of travelers that make it impossible for them to join our adventures. Many of these people lose their trip and airline payments. Even if you do not think this will happen to you, it can! We will send you information on travel insurance after you register. No trip insurance is available for Day Walks.

What is included in the trip price? See our Details page.

How do I get to the area? For Group Tours will pick you up on Day One and drop you off on Day Five at San Francisco Airport or, if you choose to drive to the area or fly to Sonoma County directly, at a designated hotel in Santa Rosa.  You are responsible for getting to and from the trip location and this transportation is not included in the trip price. Your Pre-Departure Information will include more details on getting good flights and airfares. For Private & Day Walks, you are responsible for getting to your hotel and the individual Vineyard Walks. You must have your own transportation.

What will the weather be like and what if it is bad during our Walk? The great thing about Sonoma wine country is that every season is a fantastic time to visit.  Spring and fall offer excellent weather and moderate crowds.  While summer can be hot, with highs in the upper 80s, there is almost no rain.  Winter can be wet but temperatures are moderate with highs in the upper 50s and you will have the vineyards and hotels practically to yourself.  In case of rain, we wear the proper clothes and walk anyway!

Can I purchase a gift certificate for a friend? Sonoma Vineyard Walks make a great gift for active wine enthusiasts or those interested to learn more about wine.  Please visit our Gift Certificate page.

How can I apply to be a guide? Guides for our Group Departures work directly for Zephyr Adventures, generally on trips in multiple locations. Guides on one-day and three-day walks are locally based. If you are interested to work for us, please see our Guide Application.

What is your Privacy Policy? If you provide us with information via one of our online forms, we will use that information only to communicate with you. We will not sell or provide your private information to any other parties.
